The historical Montblanc mechanical pencil, Model “No. 12,” is made of black hard rubber or early celluloid. The engraving “GEBR. STOFFHAAS – HAMBURG · BERLIN · LEIPZIG” refers to an exclusive distribution partnership with the renowned stationery store Stoffhaas, which acted as an official Montblanc dealer in the 1920s–1930s. The model number “12” at the end of the barrel confirms its series affiliation.
The writing instrument features a functional twist mechanism with a metal guide sleeve, through which the approximately 2.5 mm special lead is precisely extended and retracted. This early version was intended for heavy writing, sketching, and technical drawings.
The length when closed is approximately 15 cm, and the weight is around 13 g. An original packaging is not preserved.
The condition is good: slight age-related signs of use are visible, the engravings are fully legible, and the mechanism has been checked and is functional, with no visible damage or cracks.
The Model “12” represents a pre-war rarity and holds high museum and collector value.
