The so-called “Desert Rose” is a mineral formation that develops in arid regions through the evaporation of mineral-rich water. This specimen consists of gypsum (CaSO₄·2H₂O) or barite (BaSO₄), interspersed with fine sand particles. Characteristic are the leaf-like, rosette-shaped crystals that give the piece its distinctive form.

The coloration ranges from sandy tones to beige, and the surface exhibits a granular texture. It is a large, well-preserved formation with a pronounced crystal structure. Its substantial mass and sculptural appearance emphasize its decorative impact. The exact locality is unknown, but similar occurrences are known from North Africa, the southwestern USA, and Mexico.
