This rare vintage lighter from the year 1860 comes from the manufacturer SARASINO, whose imprint is visible on the case. The rectangular brass case is partially inlaid with natural mother-of-pearl and represents an early example of artisanal decorative design in the field of classic smoking accessories.
The case consists of two opposing main surfaces (front and back) and two narrower side surfaces. Originally, the object was equipped with a total of 16 rectangular mother-of-pearl inlays: four on each main surface (two white and two brown panels each) and four elongated inlays on each side surface. The current condition shows ten remaining inlays, while six panels are missing. On the back, only one white panel remains; the others have been lost due to age. The front was presumably arranged similarly but is not fully documented.
The mechanism consists of a classic flint-wheel ignition with a wind guard, whose functionality has not been tested. The dimensions are approximately 5.5 × 3.5 × 1.2 cm, and the weight is 53 grams.
Stylistically, the lighter showcases the combination of technical function and decorative craftsmanship. The interplay of polished brass and geometrically arranged mother-of-pearl gives the piece a refined, historically influenced appearance. It is an authentic collectible from the second half of the 19th century.
