Description: This surrealistic work by Miroslav Lovric from 1994 depicts a mysterious interior scene, distinguished by its symbolic density and dreamlike atmosphere. At the center stands a female figure in a dark skirt and light blouse, positioned before a mirror whose reflection reveals a clouded, abstracted world—a break from reality that invites contemplation on identity and perception.
The composition includes numerous emblematic elements: a gramophone with a red horn, a black and white cat, a skeleton in a white robe, a floral painting, and a yellow rug on a textured floor. These objects are deliberately distorted and arranged to create a surreal tension, reminiscent of the visual language of artists such as Magritte or Delvaux.
The lighting, the shadows on the rug, and the perspectival shifts enhance the dreamlike effect. The scene appears like a frozen moment from an inner theater—a visual poem about memory, transience, and the unconscious.
Provenance: Private collection. The framing and reverse side indicate presentation in a professional context. The work has not been publicly documented to date, making it a rare example from Lovric’s oeuvre.
