This classic five-piece pocket knife from the brand Hartkopf & Co., Solingen, combines artisanal quality with functional versatility. The main blade, made of stainless steel, bears the engraving Hartkopf & Co. – Solingen – Germany – Rostfrei – Stainless and documents its origin from the traditional Solingen manufactory, known since 1890 for precise craftsmanship. In addition to the main blade, four other tools are integrated, including two smaller blades stamped with the “R,” as well as additional functional tools such as a can opener, screwdriver, or file, depending on the version.
The handle is made of dark wood, set within brass liners with nickel-plated bolsters. The mechanism functions perfectly, and the blades show only slight signs of use and an authentic patina. With an overall length of approximately 17.5 centimeters and a weight of 62 grams, the knife is among the compact multi-purpose models of the late postwar period.
The combination of the engraved main blade and stamped auxiliary tools indicates production between the 1960s and 1980s. During this period, Hartkopf & Co. increasingly focused on stainless steels (440 grade) and a robust construction that combined practical utility with classic aesthetics.
