The elegant fountain pen from Montblanc bears the historical engraving “MONTBLANC MASTERPIECE” on the cap – a reference to the early export designation of the Meisterstück series for the English-speaking market in the 1950s.
The barrel is made of glossy black precious resin and features gold-colored decorative elements, including the clip, double ring, and nib details. The original nib is 14-carat gold (585 alloy), bicolor with an iridium tip, and bears the engraving “4810 – 14K – 585 – MONTBLANC – M.” The nib size is M (Medium). On the piston knob are the engravings „142“ (model number) as well as on the opposite side „OBB“ (nib width) – a clear mark of authenticity.
The filling system is based on a piston converter, operated by unscrewing the end piece. The ink reservoir is visible and partially filled with blue ink. Additional engravings include “MONTBLANC,” “4810,” “14K,” “585,” “M,” and “CBE.”
The length of the fountain pen when closed is approximately 13 cm, and the weight is about 14 g (without ink) or 24 g (with ink).
The condition is good: there are minor signs of use, and the mechanism has not been tested. The original 14K gold nib is fully intact and functional. With its classic double-ring design, the rare “Masterpiece” engraving, and piston converter, the writing instrument is considered collectible and of particular historical interest.
